Ekklesiyar Yan'uwa Nigeria (EYN) Women's Fellowship Choir
|
The EYN Nigerian Women’s Choir will perform at the Long Center for the Performing Arts at 111 North 6th Street in Lafayette on Sunday, June 28, at 7:30 pm. The group of nearly 30 women is touring the United States for three weeks to sing songs of celebration and gratitude in the midst of tragic violence and mass displacement.
These women are part of Ekklesiyar Yan’uwa a Nigeria (the Church of the Brethren in Nigeria) and are visiting dozens of US Churches of the Brethren during their tour. Local congregations are sponsoring their visit to Lafayette, which will be the largest venue until the culmination of their tour. |

Nigeria CrisisEYN has been heavily affected by Boko Haram’s violence. They’ve watched 8000 loved ones be killed. Over 700,000 church members are living in refugee camps, staying with strangers or friends, or are still seeking shelter. More than half of EYN church buildings have been destroyed. Most of the 273 girls kidnapped from the Chibok School in 2014 were EYN (inspiring the international Bring Back our Girls campaign).
